Being a woman who loves beauty products and saving money, I was happy to stumble upon Birchbox and Ipsy/Glambag. Initially upon receiving my Birchbox package, it was exciting to see what beauty products would show up at my doorstep. The samples were nice sized, interesting and I was always anxious to try. However, after a few months of being a subscriber the product samples became much smaller, not a match to my “personalized” specifications and downright boring. What initially drew me into Birchbox was that I could customize my box to meet MY needs and ethnicity. I have yet to receive a box that contains any make-up products for an ethnic woman. Are they not reading profiles over there? A lot of samples I received were pint sized and it became disappointing fast. Birchbox simply dropped the ball and lost the quality of their boxes. Understandably, my subscription is $10 per month but nothing about the samples stand out or encourages me to go purchase the product. After debating and debating to cancel, strangely enough I’m still a subscriber – maybe I’m self consciously hoping the products get better.
I’ve recently subscribed to a second beauty bag, Ipsy/Glambag and WOW, What a breath of fresh air?! Bags always have a theme, sample sizes are regular size and the cute makeup bags the products are mailed in are reusable and very trendy. This is awesome, because I feel I am getting my full $10 per month usage from both the company and the product. The packaging is even more glamorous and appealing to the eye. Across the board, I’m very pleased with Ipsy/Glambag and see myself being a continued subscriber.
