Decor Diva: 3 Pearls to Creating a Fabulous Space Pt.1

So, just how does a diva make her space fabulous without breaking the bank?
Three words: research, organization and patience.

RESEARCH
Decoration inspiration is literally on every corner these days – and that’s not always a good thing. From your go-to thrift shop, to the pricey antique boutique and expensive department store, the temptation to buy that random gorgeous thingamabob can be hard for any diva to resist. Trust me, I know because I have three thingamabobs in the corner of my living room right now.

Do yourself a favor and collect your ideas on a Pinterest board instead. Pinterest is a diva’s best friend. You can browse millions of pins (i.e. posts of everything fabulous and random from green vases to funky art) and make your own virtual inspiration board for Home Décor. It’s shopping without the guilt.

Etsy is another friend, but buyer beware. You must be focused and disciplined since this site features a collection of online shops from around the world. Prices range from dirt cheap to insanely expensive.

HGTV.com – A lot of times your clothing style is your decorating style, but that’s not always the case. I recommend going to the Home and Garden Television’s website to peruse different styles, layouts and colors to create a vision of how you want your space to feel and look like. And while you’re at it, tune in or catch some of their shows on DVR or Tivo.

For art, try AAA, no not the car service, art.com, allposters.com and amazon.com – Let’s be honest, you probably don’t have thousands of dollars to dedicate to art. But it’s so important for design, so give these three sites a try. They’re all great resources for finding great yet inexpensive art. Amazon.com and allposters.com are old friends, but I just discovered art.com and I’m in love. It won’t take much to find a nice piece or get an idea of what you’d like. And the best part, it includes virtual galleries for you to “hang” your favorite pieces.

Tune in again to see how to make your inspiration work!
