Reports of fights breaking out for the Versace for H&M collection is not at all surprising to me. However, my experience at the launch was a fashionistas dream.
Even though stores opened at 8am and I knew people would be lining up early for hours, I decided to sleep in on this fine Saturday. Around 10am I started getting ready to see if I could snag any of the pieces I have had my eye on for weeks.
I made it to the H&M Store in Union Square, CA around 10:50 and of course was met by a very long line. Since I blogged about the launch, I wanted to be there more so to give you my dear readers a first hand account of how designer collaborations at H&M looked. Of course, another goal of mine was to grab these wonderful earrings and black leggings with gold trim.
A lady passed the line carrying the exact leggings that I wanted so I asked her if they had anymore. She replied that she wasn’t sure but I could have the bag that she was carrying. The bag was full of Versace for H&M merchandise that she just grabbed as buyers were on a 15 minute time limit.
What a generous fashionista! The fashion gods will definitely pay her back!
There were some great items in the bag. However, I was on a mission: my earrings and leggings were all that I came for. As I searched through the bag I found the ring that matched the earrings and a pink belt. Those who know me know that pink is my absolute favorite color. So I snagged the ring and belt in hopes to get in to the collection and find the earrings and leggings.
And passing on the generosity, I turned to the girl behind me and passed her the bag. She picked out the same ring and after realizing the belt was too small for me I passed her the gorgeous pink belt.
After an hour waiting in line, it was finally my turn to enter the shopping room. I darted for the leggings and no luck. Sadly, they were sold out of the leggings and earrings that I wanted. I pursued the rest of the collection since I waited so long to do so and found the pink belt in my size. Score!
While I would have liked to take home those earrings (shown above) and the leggings, I refused to line up a day early (like some) to do so. Hey every fashionista has their limits. However, I think it to be reasonable that the next collaboration I may venture out a few hours earlier.
Chanel for H&M maybe? A Diva can only dream…
