Girlfriends Gifts with Cricut: Glitter Tee

Happy Holidays! Happy Holidays! How I love the Holidays! I love thinking about what gifts to give and what would bring a smile to a persons face once they are given something. This year most of my gifts will be handmade using my Cricut Explore Air and I cannot wait to show you how easy it is to use. Well…if you have been here a while you have already seen how easy it is to use Cricut and how much I love the iron-on feature. As promised, in this tutorial I am showing you how to layer iron-on.

If you want to follow along, you can access the tee design in Cricut Design Space here. And if you would rather watch the video and follow along then see below. I’ve also detailed the steps in article form so feel free to continue reading.

What you will need:

Optional:

1. Design your graphic using images in Cricut Design Space. You can access this image by clicking the link above. 2. Click the “Make It” button at the top right corner of Cricut Design Space
3. Load your first mat with the shiny side down (Follow the prompts on the screen for queues to loading and unloading the mat. In this example, we are cutting the tree in green glitter iron on.
Repeat step 3 with the next iron-on color. In this example, we are cutting the high heel shoes in gold glitter iron on.
Repeat step 3 again, with the last iron-on color. In this example we are cutting the heart in pink glitter iron on.
4. Once your images have been cut it is time to move on to weeding. For ease, you can use the Cricut BrightPad to help you see the cut lines better. (If you do not have a Cricut BrightPad, begin to peel the excess glitter iron on back slowly until it reveals your image (Tree).
Repeat step 4 with the next image (shown: weeding the high heels) Not shown: weeding the heart.
5. Next we get to the fun part. Well it is all fun but you get my drift. Place the first image (Tree) onto the tee. You can move this around until you get the perfect positioning.
6. Once you have the image placed correctly, cover it with the Cricut Iron-on Protectant sheet. Note: you can also use a clean piece of cloth. 7. Make sure your iron does not have the steam turned on. 8. Using your home iron, place it firmly down on the image for 15 seconds. Then move the iron in 15 second intervals until you have covered the whole image at least twice with the iron.
9. Place the second image layer (high heel shoes) onto the tee. Once you have your placement repeat steps 6-8.
10. Now place the last layer (heart) onto the top of the tree and repeat steps 6-8. Once complete, stand back and marvel at your beautiful creation. Now your tee is ready to give as a gift to your girls. Because friends who glitter together stay together!
